Antarki's list:
So here is my reference for Inca warriors, based on the unit list propossed. as Filibusteria said, the mapuches specialized on one weapon per warrior. reading some texts i found out this also applied to the incas, so, based on that i proposse the following:
img124.imageshack.us/my.php?image=uincagm3.jpg
As goes:
1. Peasants (Hatunruna): atack with small huaracas (slings, unlimited ammo. the idea is to maka an animation of the fellows searching the ground for a stone and then atacking, thats because they didnt carry their stones (stones were made specially for slings). so, its expected their damage wont get as big as the normal slinger. meele atack is with a stone in their hands.
2. Auxilary infantry (aukakuna): armed with a normal maccana and small wooden shield. they are light infantry
3. Spearman (Chukiaukakuna): light spearman armed with STONE head chukis and wooden shield
4. slinger (huaraca aucakuna): slinger, shield and helmet. atacks with a small mace (or stone, i think stone is more accurate historically) when in close range.
5. soldier ( Maccana aucakuna): normal unit, armed with stone macana, shield, cottoned leather armor and helmet. TRHOWS AN AYLLO (boleadora) BEFORE ENTERING BATTLE.
6. axeman (Champi aucakuna): same to the other one, but armed with a champi (axe) he doesnt throw anything before battle.
7. Heavy spearman (Heavy Chuki aucaikuna): armed with bronce headed spear, cottoned leather armor, shield and helmet. dont throw anything.
8. Heavy slinger (heavy huaraca aucakuna): the same but with leather armor. has better range, atack and all that, you know.
9. Heavy maccana (heavy maccana aucakuna): armed with large cottoned leather armor, Bronze head, two-handed Maccana and all the other stuff, also THROWS AYLLO.
10. Cuzquenian Cohort: Heavy Cuzco noblemen, with Bronce halberd-like champis and all the stuff you can see. they also throw ayllo before Battle.
The special units (not that they are special, but unique well )
11. inca captian/sergeant: for when the army has no general. armed with a big two handed bronze mace. (Rychig made a model for this one, just needs some modifications)
12. generals bodyguard: virtually the same as the Cuzco cohort but doesnt throw anything before battle.
13. Inca general /inca: well, the general unit. I have posted it before with all his stuff so i wont insist on this one.
well Righyg, you have now all this units for the inca faction.
jus two notes:
1: note the helmets and shields have in the drawings almost a same decoration and colors. this is cause i was not going to draw different stuff for every units, but in fact thats the idea. just look on the internet for inca decorations.
2: about the boleadora or ayllo: is there a way to make a stunning effect by using this weapon? theorically , the ayllo was used to bring down an enemy to kill him then, it didnt harmed him in most cases. the device rolled into the legs of the victim making him fall down an vulnerable while tryng to get rid of the device. can it Stun units? . well, I got some other considerations but Ill treat them later, thats all for now. hope you like it. if you have any doubts, just ask me. Good bye!
MODIFIED:
A NOTE ABOUT KECHUA: You will notice the kechua names and terminations in this list. in fact, they can just be named with a english kechua mixed name, like "Huaraca warrior" or "macana soldier" but the full kechua name would be something like the ones posted. nervertheless, You should know that this are constructions and not necesarilly the words with wich these units where called (but maybe they were)
Ill explain how i constructed the terms (I know some kechua ):
Auca: means soldier/ warrior or enemy
- kuna: the termination "kuna" referes to "many", quantitiy, more than one. is a plural termination so when i say "huasi" i mean "house", but when i say "Huasikuna" im saying "Houses"
Chuki: spear
Huaraca: sling
Macana: mace or any kind of head crushing weapon
champi: generic word for any kind of axe or axe like object.
ok, enough with the kechua lesson, hope to know what you think
JUST WAIT SOME TIME; ILL POST A LIST WITH CHIMU UNITS, IM RESEARCHING!!!
