I've got the idea of making a Mesoamerican "Story" Campaign. Emperor Tezozomoc of the Tepanec has just taken over the Texcoco kingdom and has killed the Emperor Ixtlilxochitl. You control a large unit led by the son of Ixtlilxochitl, Nezahualcoyotl. You have to use diplomacy as a key to gain allies against the Tepanec. You are given a certain amount of time before the Tepanec army advances on Tlatelolco and Tenochtitlan.
You begin with your army at the Mexican city of Tenochtitlan. You can improve your army and get more soldiers and create allies with nations around you and take the city of Azcapotzalco to win the campaign and you are are informed of victory and the forming of The Triple Alliance, you can choose to end there or expand.
Thoughts anyone?

It sounds like a good idea for a regional campaign, with the Tepanec(and possibly others) as new civs.

OK, I'm expanding on the the first post in this thread. But instead of controling the Valley and creating the Triple Alliance, that will be the setting from which the game kicks off.
We could make it so that when you start the game you have one city (or two since Tlacopans rulers broke from Azcapotzalco and joined Tenochtitlan) in the middle of a lake surrounded by three others. Your generals are Itzcoatl (the first ruler of the Mixtica after the Tepanecs assassinated his father, Chimalpopoca), Nezahualcoyotl (the displaced prince of Texcoco), and Totoquihuaztli the ruler of Tlacopan. With these you must first conquer the Tepanec (we'll call them rebels eh?) and secure control of the Valley of Mexico.
Now, this is just the first moves that you could make and would probably want to make which fits neatly with history. Then your next step would be to take Teotihuacan and get some culture benefits and from their you can just start carving out your empire. I also think we need to make the surrounding rebels and cultures very aggressive.
Just thoughts after spending the week researching Aztec provinces and history.

The Aztecs should start small, surrounded by blood thirsty enemies. The Aztecs were a relative new power in the region, so they should really fight to get their empire started.

OK then, as I am close to completing the map, I will code in the starting cities for the Aztec as Tenochtitlan and Tlapocan. They will have 4 Generals: Itzcoatl (Faction Leader), Totoquihuaztl (Governor of Tlacopan), Nezahualcoyotl, Moctezuma Ilhuicamina (I'll code him in as Itzoatl's son, even though he was really his nephew). I will also add Tlacaelel as a Diplomat. He actually is responsible for pretty much creating 'Aztec' as a culture, but I can't think of any other role for this influencial individual. Also, I modified the Mod's over view post: incatotalwar.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=sugestionforum&action=display&thread=1193071728&page=1#1193117724

Hey guys, just for fun I made a little Campaign called Legio Extremitis where I placed a Roman Legion in the town of Zmepola, the same one the Spanish arrived at. Its just to see how much of the new world we can take over before the legion is completely destroyed.
I'll have to delete this once we go onto the SA campaign, but at least it'll give people something else to do when they play.
