Well, I think there are some things that certainly lend themselves to being wonders and would make the game more interesting and we can use to further our historical bent.
There is the San Agustin stone carvings (I know Fili, that's a spanish name but we can work on that)
The Nazca Lines
The Olmec Totems.
The Great Pyramid of the Aztecs
The mayan lighthouse
just to name a few

We can include wonders, but they could be only decorative. I always thought it unrealistic that a large bronze man on an island somewhere in the mediterranean could improve the animal hide trade on the north sea...

OK, work is progressing slowly this week because i do not have access to my computer, but that should change over the weekend. Meanwhile, we need to have people working on the art and the skins. I hope all is going well with everyone else.

i have finished the descriptions and the bbuilding trees for the meso americans and their mercs. I have done them in a way that will help the coders, with info about their weapons their shields and their armor. If fili does the same for the southerns then thats another thing that will be ready. But skinning is the nain problem now

OK, map update. I also posted this in the Caius map update section.
I don't have any screenies to show because of the current lack of internet connect at my home. I really must get on top of that. But, I did get a lot of work done over the weekend.
All the climates and ground types are more or less complete from mexico to southern Colombia (modern day references) as well as most of the Amazon. The only thing left to complete the strat_map in these areas are the rivers in the map_features. I tend to be very picky about how my rivers look so that will probably be completed by tomorrow night.
Then I will just have the area from Equador to Chile to complete. This will probably take me three evenings, if not four. Then another two to finish the rivers. So, if all goes well, I will have a beautifully finished strat_mp by the beginning of next week.
Then my focus will bo on the battle maps. Not that I'm going to be creating custom tiles, I just need to change how the vegetation looks in the climate/ground type combinations. I am not happy at all with what I see on the battle fields. Doing this will take some time, but at least you'll have a map to play on with fully coded cities and regions.
The only ones right now that are not coded into the game are the Incan (for some reason no one has given me references for these) and amazonian.
I'll try to have prgressive updates coming every day now.
Thanks for your patience guys.

Regarding wonders, we could insert them not on the map, but as unique buildings in cityes. Anyway, great job Rah.

Speaking of cities. Could we make some of the cities look like those they really represent by the city models we create. Like Machu Pichu for example. Perhaps create a model to place on the map that looks like the city we are all familiar with. And the same could go for Tenichtitlan and such

I'm spreading my posts around here:
Map update, I have more then half the map completed to my satisfaction at this point (barring changes due to playability) and I am quite happy with how it is coming out. I took a screen shot which I will post soon looking over the city of Pajaten down into the Huatica river valley and out towards the Amazon, all we need is to figure out how to add mist to the map and it'll be kick arse. (Kidding about the mist, but that would be sweet)
There is a mountain called Shubet which is just west of the Chachapoyan city of Kuelep, I was thinking that was should make this a wonder and model it. The Chachapoya believed that there was a city built within the mountain and they built walls around it to protect this sacred site from outsiders.

OK guys, my computer is officially broken it will now no longer even launch to the desktop. I am trying to get it to load once just so I can get all the files off of it. Its a second hand machine a friend sold me just so I could play the Total War games and well, it doesn't have a drive I can burn stuff from. Anyway, long story short, I was planning on buying a new computer next month and I hear Macs run windows siftware pretty effeciently these days. So, I may be held up for a bit while I sort this out. I do have an old version of the map backed up, but I would really like to get all my recent work I did in the past month.
I'll let you know how it goes.
OK, there's now a high likely hood that all the work I've done in the past few weeks is gone. I can not get the hard drive to show up on the computer and my IT friend told me not to hold my breath on retrieving the info on it. I am taking this far calmer then I thought I would. I have hope after all.
I will know more when I bring the drive into work tomorrow.

Please tell me it is just a bad dream . Anyway, could you remove the hard disk from the computer and attempt puting it into another computer ? I had once similar problem and one of my friends managed to help me save most of the stuff from my old disk.

I brought the hard drive into work with me today and I am going to see if the IT department here, its a whole floor of computer repair specialists actually, can mount it and retrieve the data. I can easily recreate the map and the provinces and such, its the textures and the vegetations files that I edited recently that I'm more concerned about.
I'm still hopefull.
OK, as of now, all my work from the past 5 weeks is gone. I will make an effort this weekend to recreate everything get close to where I started. My GF is out of town so that means no distractions. There is still a small chance of getting the drive to work, but every IT guy I talk to says in its the drive motor inside the hard drive. Which means a buku dollar rebuild of the drive.
I'll let you know my progress.

I'm not trying to speak with more experience than your colleagues, because I don't have it, but I suggest you talk to DVK at TWC.
He gets stuff off broken hard drives at his work, so maybe he could help you.
Cheers, RM3
