ill make a unit list for the fiercefull Chancas, this civ is quite similar to the incas, but they are some differences on the suits and names.
First ill say some central things about them so all of you get more familiar to them:
Origin: actual region of Apurimac, specificaly from Andahuaylas
language: quechua, with some differences from the Cuzco quechua
Culture: they where a terribly belic culture. Chanca warriors where known by the habitus of cutting warriros heads, processing them and using them as "war medals". appart of this, they appear to have bennefit from the rich Wari culture. they had organized agriculture and a strict social stratification in wich warriors where the most encumbrated. they had noblemen, artisans, peasants and "slaves" (is difficult to talk about slaves in the andean world, but yanaconas can be compared to slaves with some limit) There is much more to say but hope this gives you an idea.
The Chanca empire: when the Chancas confronted the INcas they where in the good path for the creation of an empire. the main armys that spread from andahuaylas where commanded by two fierce warlords each one of them, one representing the hanan and the other, the hurin faction (up and down, is a form of organization common to the andean world) the warlords that atacked Cuzco where the famous brothers huaraka: hasto and tumay huaraka, and where defeated by prince Cusi Yupanki (later Inca Pachakutec, cause of this) in the battle of Yahuarpampa.
Chanca Warfare: despite their apparent savageness, the Chancas where when on war a formidably organized army. their main meele body was compossed of spearman, different to the Cuzco ones wich trusted meele action to heavy clubmen. their army was divided in spearmen, slingers, macana men and javelin (estolica) throwers. as with the Cuzcos, each group had its seargeants, captains and an accedant line that ended on the supreme warlord itself, wich in fact had a double command, sinces there where two warlords, makin the army a double one, corresponding to the andean idiosincracy.
in battle, as with other andean peoples, the chancas carried their main "huaca" (or sacred idol) to the battle. for example, in the siege of Cuzco they carried Uscovilca, their myitical founder (yet its not clear wether uscovilca was a mummy(malki) or a stone) losing this idol, resulted in a morale crisis on every andean nation, thus, it was usually severely protected.
Well, this is just an introduction, hope you get an idea of the importance of this faction. ill make some drawings soon for the unit list. keep up the good work, and merry christmas! (i was forgetting, jeje)
Bye!
