Hate making a new thread in this thing, but here it goes.
So, I spent the last two nights working on the 'Homeland Expansive AOR', I think there is another mod that has done something similar, but here it goes.
By using hidden resources I have made it so that there are two degrees of recruitment.
In the homeland, which are the settlements you start with or those in the same cutlural zone, you can recruit just like the vanilla game, except in our mod building construction, thus recruitment, is built upon your ability to build up your trade and workshops.
Once you leave the homeland your ability to recruit falls off drastically. You can't recruit anything but some peasants when you first conquer a town and it'll take at least one turn and some money before you can recruit some more variety of units. But even these will be low level. So, you better have a larger enough army to occupy a city and hold it for at least two turns.
On top of this. You can only recruit Elite units in your homeland settlements. The thought behind this is that historically these would have been made up of primarily nobles who would only really live in the homeland, the Aztec at least were a very centralized culture. So, if you want to have Elites in your army on the frontier, you'll need to send em there.
So, I forsee a quick start that gradually slows down as you expand. Hopefully it'll also create a bit more realistic situation where you're dealing with large armies on campaigns instead of dozens of armies built as you go.
Anyway, what do you think?
