It's clear the classic denarii won't work for Inca:Total War. Most precolumbian civs(if not all) didn't know standarised coins(or they didn't used them as much as in Europe). All empires had different pay methods ,the Aztecs for example used cacao beans to pay.
How is this going to be solved? Is it even possible to give all civs different coin systems?

That is a really go question. I wonder if we can change the denomination on the AI? There has to be a way to change it univesally though. Was that string system the Inca had just for counting or was it used in a monetary way?

EB changed Denarii to Mnai, but that was for all factions. I think the string system was only for communication, however, I'm no expert on Incas.

Roman Man just informed me that you can change the denomination via the strat.txt file in data/text. And he seems to agree that it can not be faction specific. I will research this if I can find the time.

How about we change the denarii for "resources" or something like that?

Tribute? I know that's a transaction but it'd make sense as a "monetary" unit...
500 tribute for the recruitment of these Inca Clubmen 800 tribute for 10 turns in exchange for a ceasefire 10,000 tribute for the construction of the Temple of Tlaloc

Or jade. The Meso all thought jade was precious, even more precious than gold... not plentiful enough to be standard payments though.... unless we make everythin low numbers... like 50 Jade for ___ Holkanob or whatever... ?
