lol, I only meant that they didn't use columns and stuff. Didn't mean to say rank. Everyone (even wolf packs) have ranks. My bad. Sorry. Vuk

And I take it your axing all horse units? What are the Generals going to be riding? Can you even make unhorsed Generals or do they all have to be Captains?

No horse units except for the Spanish and for the "Late Mapuche" (if we will decide to make them).

As far as formations go, it is possable to mod them... we could create a new formation set that's historically accurate.
And there were different levels in tribal socity, we could represent that in the unit lists, they.
@merlitos: When we started making the units, i didn't realize that we were ditching historical accuracy... By the time i realized it, we were allready well into it. I am not saying we have to redo everything now, i just wanted to point out that we are leaving the origninal goals of the mod... We can worry about getting historically acurate units and all after the Beta, when we have some more people interested in development.

I understand but the thing is that IF we succeed in getting the beta, the people here will be so burned out that i dont believe we will be able to get this project done at the end, i mean in the form of an official release. And another thing: As far as Im concerned the tribal societies consisted of the peasants, the landlords, some nobles maybe but in some societies THEY were the landlords, and the King, oh and some priests. Im afraid this would not help to make a unit list more variable

Inca`s had ranks and organization... "commander over 10 man" "commander over 100 man" "commander over 1000 man" These are military organisation types wich are common to even the most primitive army. But you are right on one thing, Vuk. Most of the civilisations wich we will represent, where very disorganised. the thing is the ranks doesnt make unit categorizations. And i will explain. In the Inca mod we had to use the ranks to make units names just because the civs lacked any particular unit groups. For example the companion cavalry of the Macedonians was not a rank it was a military order. We couldnt have that thing for the Mapuche or the Incas, e.g., because then the unit line would be too thin. So we used their military ranks although it is strange to have an army of "commanders of 10". Do you understand my point of view?

And when i say historically correct I mean drawings from university professors, not references of the kind"I have seen that and it must have looked like this, and maybe it would be better to do that" im not a university proffesor, but i live in the place where these people lived, and ive gone to museums. I also have books with info. If i had dropped a just little of my imagination on those concepts they would have 34 units each. So please dont say they are not historically correct, like the osprey books, because they are. Fili, you get me wrong. I dont say your references are wrong or made out of your fantasies. Believe me Im not the one complaining. I believe that our cooperation in unit making is going very well and the proof of that is that our mod has 50 new units. There are not many mods out there that have made so many units from nothing. I think it all goes well in this factor. I told you again i wish we made the same advancements in other areas of the game as well...
