Or you could up damage and defence proportionatelly for all units, which would make fine-tuning easier. You could get much lower proportianate damage, and make small adjustments easier, which will be especially important if you are including a large number of units.

You know, this 0 turn pesant thing has worked in several games as faction bonuses. For example, in RoN(Rise of Nations) China had the avility to make Pesants instantly. Also, they could be armed, making them Minuteman. One thing. IF you had 50 minutemen against 10 Musketeers, the minutemen would be turned into a bloody pulp before they could even kill 3 of them.

V1.1 is on the e-mail if you want to see it... too hard explain right now but it basically incorporate base values from different classes, weapons and armour and then applies modifiers that would affect how they operate (eg. Spears not as good in trees, Heavy Armour slows you down etc.) Apply all the functions to the unit in question and you get a balanced unit against all the others when using the same function for all. I'll show proper example tomorrow if i get a chance comparing two similar units from different factions.

Sorry to post here, but whats the difference:
Attack 2, Defence 1
vs
Attack 3, Defence 2
than
Attack 32, Defence 31
vs
Attack 33, Defence 32
Can anyone explain?

Higher numbers allowes for finer tuning of damage. Now one unit can be better than another by a tiny little amount, so you can have more and more diverse units.
Of course then you need abstro-proportional values, which the ones you posted are not. I don't know why those values in particular would be used.
